On the fourteenth of October, 2023, during the Third Session of the , Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju offered these profound teachings on the state of No-Mind.
Those who have realised their true nature understand the essence of No-Mind. To be in this state means that one does not cling to any appearances. When a practitioner attains this level of clarity, they become like a vast, empty sky. Because there is no mind for , attached spirits, or even demon crowds to grasp, they cannot find a place to anchor their influence. Consequently, they are unable to control the practitioner or cause the manifestation of . The mind is no longer a target, and therefore, the cycle of interference is broken.
Why do karmic creditors find us? They are drawn to the fluctuations of our . When our internal state vibrates in resonance with the resentment or desires of our karmic creditors, we create a bridge for them to cross. This resonance is what allows the manifestation of karma to occur. If our minds were still, like a calm and undisturbed lake, there would be no frequency for them to latch onto. It is our own internal turbulence that invites the very suffering we wish to escape.
Demon crowds are exceptionally skilled at observing the human heart and identifying the weaknesses within our nature. They do not merely observe these flaws; they work to deepen and intensify them. By magnifying our internal struggles, they make it nearly impossible for us to extricate ourselves from the sea of suffering. We must understand what these weaknesses are, as they serve as the entry points for their influence:
Because the mind directs both and the spirit, our personality traits, flaws, and weaknesses are all visible within the heart-mind. If you wish to be free, you must begin the work of changing your ways. If you truly transform your personality—to the point where not a single trace of your old, ego-driven self remains—then your heart-mind will no longer project these flaws. Without these traits, there is nothing to interfere with your body and spirit.
When you diligently correct your shortcomings, they cease to be weaknesses. When you let go of your attachments, you are no longer influenced or disturbed by them. You no longer allow these things to trigger afflictions or agitate your heart. When the mind is no longer a host for these weaknesses, they lose their power to disturb your body and spirit.
To achieve this, you must practise not clinging to anything and not allowing anything to obstruct your heart. When the mind is level and without waves, it is clear and luminous. When there is no longer any stain of attachment, you have cleared away the dust and grime of lifetimes. In this state, the mind naturally becomes empty, and you can no longer find a mind to grasp. This is the moment when your original, true self is revealed. This state of emptiness—where there is no-thing, and even the concept of mind disappears—is the true face of your original nature. By chanting Namo Amituofo, you return to this source, leaving suffering behind to find true happiness.
