After the great waves pass, they become small waves.
Before the surface of the sea returns to calm, there are still ripples remaining.
The water surface with ripples remaining is not calm; it still has fluctuations, which interfere with the purity of one's practice.
If the following waves do not push forward again, these waves will gradually return to calm;
If the following waves are large or the wind on the sea is strong, the waves will continue to push forward, and the ripples may become small or large waves.
Regardless, for the sea surface, these waves are by no means calm.
For a practitioner,
24/7, letting the heart stay in a state of meditative concentration is the skill of practice.
Meditative concentration is a skill that a practitioner must possess.
If this is not the case, those who often have waves or ripples in their hearts cannot achieve a settled heart, and thus their Wisdom (Prajna) is obscured.
When circumstances manifest, one is led by and , rather than being the master of one's true self or self-nature. This continues to generate karma, thus wave after wave is connected. If one cannot break this, it is difficult to have a pure heart, one will continue to be reincarnated, and there is no talk of becoming an awakened being.
If a practitioner has true attainment, they are like the deep bottom of the ocean.
No matter how the surface fluctuates,
the depths of the ocean remain calm and without fluctuations, unaffected by interference and untouched by the waves.
This is meditative concentration, the skill of the heart.
When one attains meditative concentration, one can naturally generate Wisdom (Prajna) and clearly perceive all phenomena.
One can clearly see the world outside the heart, not be led by delusions, create negative karma, and suffer the consequences.
In practice, one must always maintain purity and Goodness.
If there are fluctuations, it is pollution;
if the thoughts of fluctuation enter the and form karma, it is not pure.
Chant one Buddha's name to the end, which can calm the ripples and avoid the water surface from undulating.
This is the magnificence of the Buddha-name; one should act accordingly.
