The Liberation of Zheng Junyi: From Suffering to the Western Pure Land

This is a record of an interview with Zheng Junyi, who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the human world. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on January 5, 2024.

Zheng Junyi speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Zheng Junyi. The Great Buddha is right before my eyes—truly, He is right there! I am so deeply moved by this sight. Besides me, there are so many other spirits moving together toward the Great Buddha. Everyone is chanting 'Namo Amituofo' in unison. It feels as if we have arrived at a grand, magnificent gathering; it is incredibly vibrant and alive. As the golden light shines down upon us, so many inconceivable things are unfolding right before my eyes."

The Radiance of the Great Buddha

"After seeing the Buddha, I feel such immense gratitude. There is a sense of profound familiarity with Him, as if I have known Him for aeons. My heart has gradually expanded, becoming cool, clear, and luminous. I realise now that this is the true feeling of letting go—the weight of the world simply falling away."

"Now, I wander through the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, and everywhere I go, the scenery is breathtaking. It is as if the beauty before me perfectly mirrors the state of my own heart. Every corner of this Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is far more natural and beautiful than anything in the human world."

Gratitude for Deliverance

"I know that it was my daughter-in-law, Lay Practitioner Zhou Jinxian, who helped me receive Chao Du, which allowed me to reach the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am truly grateful to her. But above all, I am most grateful to the Buddha. The Buddha has truly saved me from the depths of my suffering."

The Bitter Cycle of the Human World

"When I look back at everything in the human world, I see that it is filled with suffering at every turn. We suffer for the sake of survival, we suffer through our interactions with others, and we suffer for the sake of our families and ourselves. So many burdens are carried upon our own shoulders. Often, we do not even realise that this is suffering. We become so accustomed to the things we possess that if we lose them, we desperately try to cling to them. Life after life, we continue this cycle, never knowing when to wake up."

"If I had not come to this Buddha-land and been given the opportunity to be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I would never have awakened. I would still be a wandering spirit, unable to let go, still worrying about my family and wanting to protect them, never realising that as a wandering soul, I could not do anything to help them at all."

A Final Plea to the Living

"Thinking back on my past self, I was truly so foolish. Yet, most people in the world are still lost, deeply addicted to this physical body. Now that I have finally managed to break free, I want to urge my family, friends, and all those who have karmic affinity with me in the human world: you must know that it is time to leave this cycle of samsara. Follow the footsteps of the Buddha and do not remain lost in the illusions of this world!"

"I am filled with gratitude for the Causal Conditions that allowed me to be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am deeply grateful to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre and to Practitioner Su."
