The Liberation of Miaoyin: From a Rabbit to the Western Land

This is a record of an interview with Miaoyin, who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transformation from a pet rabbit to a liberated spirit. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on March 21, 2025.

Miaoyin speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Ever since I was guided to this Buddha-land, my form has transformed from that of a rabbit into a human body—the simple, innocent appearance of a young boy.

The Warmth of Buddha-light

During this period of purification here in the Buddha-land, I made the firm decision to seek rebirth in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Today, I finally beheld the Buddha. As I looked up at the immense, radiant figure of the Buddha before me, I could not help but burst into tears. I have finally found the place where my heart can truly be at rest. The Buddha-light brings me such profound, encompassing warmth.

For such a long time, I was unable to even smile. I endured immense suffering, and my consciousness was trapped in a space filled with pain and terror. I was so afraid of being hurt again that I would shrink myself down, making myself as small as possible, yet my entire body would still tremble. It was only after a great, brilliant light brought me to this Buddha-land that I truly experienced a rebirth.

Releasing the Burden of Resentment

Regarding those who harmed me in the past, my heart was filled with deep resentment. I even harboured a desire for revenge. But now, I have let all of that go. It is the compassion of the Buddha that has saved and transformed me. Now, I have released everything; I only wish to follow the Buddha with a single, focused heart.

I am so deeply grateful to the sister who helped me receive Chao Du. I can truly feel your kind heart. If you had not remembered me, I might still be trapped in that cycle of suffering, unable to find a way out. Now that everything has passed and I have seen the Buddha, I hope you can be at peace. Regarding what your father did to me, I hope you will not let it weigh on your mind, for this was simply the laws of karma and cause and effect between your father and me from our past lives.

A Debt Repaid

In the past, I harmed your father deeply and persecuted him in much the same way. Now, through the principle of retribution—one debt repaid for another—I have settled my accounts. I owe nothing more, and it is only because of this that I have been granted such a wonderful opportunity to be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. My heart is overflowing with gratitude.

Sister, since arriving in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, everyone here calls me Miaoyin, so I have taken that as my name. I am now resting within my own lotus flower. The fragrance of the lotus is so sweet, and my entire being feels so cool and refreshed. I know you must be happy for me.

I also pray that you are well every single day and that you remain free from all afflictions. We shall meet again in the future in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
