The Journey of Lay Practitioner Wang Huishu to the Western Pure Land

This is a record of an interview with Wang Huishu, the foster sister of Lay Practitioner Peng Jiyu, who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on September 9, 2022.

Lay Practitioner Wang Huishu speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Wang Huishu. When I first beheld the Buddha, my heart was filled with profound emotion. The contrast between the suffocating darkness of the ghost realm where I once dwelled and the infinite, boundless light now before me is truly profound. Now, my heart has finally found peace. Only after my heart settled could I look back and begin to clarify my own existence. In the past, I was constantly preoccupied with the people around me and the material things I possessed. I foolishly believed that these external things were my entire world. Because of this, I chose to cling to them tightly, refusing to let go. Even when my last breath left my body, my mind was still fixated on these worldly attachments. That is precisely why I fell into the ghost realm."

The Purification of the Soul

"After undergoing a period of purification within the Buddha-land and being cleansed by the profound truths of the Dharma, I finally realised that everything I had once grasped so desperately never truly belonged to me. In the ghost realm, the faces of the beings there are filled with sorrow and gloom, reflecting the same heavy, stagnant state of mind that I once carried. If it were not for Practitioner Su, who reached out to save me, I would still be choosing to live in the past, trapped in a cycle of suffering from which I could never escape.

The hardships of human life are exactly like this. As a woman, I found myself burdened by even more attachments than most. It was the blessing and support of the Buddha that allowed me to change, and I truly felt the depth of His compassion. Now, I strive to look forward. Today, my husband and I have both attained rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. We have finally let go of the many lingering attachments and emotional burdens that once held us back. I am deeply grateful that such a magnificent place exists."

A Message to the Living

"Nianci, it was only after arriving in the Buddha-land that I realised it was you who helped us receive Chao Du. I am so incredibly grateful to you. Without your intervention, we would still be wandering aimlessly, lost in the cycle of suffering. Your sincerity and your resolve to help others are truly wonderful. You must understand that every person’s time in this world is limited. Do not continue to cling to the things of this world. Whatever concepts or thoughts you find difficult to let go of, please, just release them! Do not follow in my footsteps; do not wait until it is too late, only to be filled with regret.

Every person has a destiny, a bright future that is meant for them. But if that future is still one bound by the cycle of rebirth, then you must find a way to transform it. Nianci, I hope you can spread the word about this incredible work of saving souls. Help more people understand the truth. Let our family know that we are doing very well now; we reside in a truly beautiful place where there is no more pain or suffering.
