This is a record of an interview with Kuang Xin, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the human world to the Pure Land, detailing her journey from a state of spiritual confusion to the clarity of the Buddha-light. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on July 5, 2024.
Lay Practitioner Kuang Xin speaks:
". I feel as though I am in a daze, still struggling to process everything. Am I truly in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss now? It must be so, for I have seen Namo Amituofo. I often saw Namo Amituofo when I was with Practitioner Su, but here, the vision is so much clearer, so much more vivid. It is truly beyond words.
I knelt down immediately, overwhelmed with gratitude. I am so deeply thankful to Practitioner Su for guiding me to the Western Land. I was just an ordinary, simple person—I never performed any great deeds of merit—yet Practitioner Su still reached out to bring me here. My heart is filled with such profound gratitude; I truly cannot thank her enough. It is a blessing I never could have imagined."
"Everything feels like a dream. From the moment I took my last breath and left the world until now, I feel as though I have never truly been awake. I was lost, not knowing where I was or what I was doing; it was just one day after another, drifting in a haze. I didn't even think about my past life. My mind was a complete blank. I just walked, aimlessly, alone. I recall someone speaking to me, but I had no idea who they were or where those voices were coming from.
The reason I ended up with Practitioner Su was that I heard someone calling my name. To be honest, I couldn't even tell it was my name at first, but the voice was so powerful, so resonant, that I heard it instantly. While I was still wondering if it was meant for me, a force—a gentle, irresistible power—swept me away. I had no idea what was happening. In a single instant, I found myself with Practitioner Su. I later learned that the place was called the ."
"I still didn't quite understand what was going on, but when I sat upon the lotus seat, I felt an incredible sense of comfort. My entire body felt light, as if all my illnesses had simply vanished. It was a feeling of pure, unadulterated ease that I had not known for a lifetime. I don't know how much time passed, but every day, the Buddha-light shone upon me. I began to wake up, to become clear-headed, and finally, I started to understand what had occurred.
Whenever Practitioner Su gave talks, I would listen intently. When she held a Dharma assembly, I would follow along and chant. Even though I wasn't very good at it and didn't fully grasp the deeper meanings, I would just open my mouth and chant along, feeling so incredibly happy. It was as if my heart was finally finding its rhythm again."
"Later, I realised that it was my family in the world who saved me. I am so overjoyed that they did not forget me. But I also want to counsel my descendants: the world is truly nothing more than a dream. So many things I once held onto, I can no longer even recall; they seem to have nothing to do with me anymore because they were never real to begin with. I wonder if you can understand what I mean? What I want to say is this: whatever happens, let it go. Do not hold onto it in your heart. It is useless. Once stops breathing, the world changes entirely.
I hope my descendants will remember my words so that they do not have to suffer. And above all, you must chant Namo Amituofo. Only by chanting Namo Amituofo can you return to the Western Land. This—this is our true home. Kuang Xin bows in reverence. Namo Amituofo."
