Life is a constant series of choices. In the world, we are preoccupied with choosing our academic paths, our careers, and our marriages. However, in our spiritual practice, we face a more critical choice: the path to the of Ultimate Bliss. Yet, even when we claim to choose this path, we often find ourselves still manifesting the patterns of being reincarnated.
How many of us truly understand the beauty of the Western Pure Land? We say we vow to be reborn in the West, yet our hearts remain tethered to memories and attachments of this world. If your heart is divided, how can your vow to reach the Western Pure Land be fulfilled? This is the fundamental question you must ask yourself.
We are taught the importance of learning to "see through" and "let go." We know that we should not grasp at things, yet we find ourselves holding on tightly to the very things that bind us. We know that we cannot continue to cling, but we have not yet mastered the art of letting go. Consequently, we are trapped in an internal tug-of-war, caught between the desire for liberation and the habit of attachment.
In such a state of internal conflict, how can your be eliminated? If you cannot even let go of your own attachments, how can you expect to resolve the conflict with your ? You must realise that your current state of mind is the primary obstacle to your progress.
To truly advance, you must be willing to change every aspect of your personality. You must cultivate the following virtues:
If you can truly embody these qualities, you will create the opportunity to resolve the conflict with your karmic creditors and move closer to becoming an awakened being.
Only by maintaining a sincere heart and focusing entirely on chanting can you succeed. You must make a firm vow to be reborn in the West and refuse to be misled or pulled away by the and . If you can achieve this, then at the time of your passing, you will not be disturbed by the manifestation of karma or the interference of karmic creditors.
You will be able to chant Namo Amituofo with a clear mind and follow Namo Amituofo to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Namo Amituofo.
