During the held on October 24, 2020, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, the scene appeared to the physical eye much like any other regular ceremony. However, within the spiritual space that remains invisible to our physical eyes, a magnificent transformation was taking place. In the boundless golden light, the of Practitioner Su was performing the work of . This space was filled with an inconceivable realm manifested by the vow power and meditative visualisation of Practitioner Su. All these changes occurred because the vow of Practitioner Su had become immensely powerful. Because truly abides at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, Avalokiteshvara , Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, and the Pure Ocean-Wide Assembly of Bodhisattvas have also manifested in this world at the temple. This is all made possible because Practitioner Su has achieved , allowing him to enter the realm of the Body.
A Collective Plea for Humanity
On this day, Practitioner Su made a solemn vow. Because Namo Amituofo abides at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, he prayed for the resolution of the suffering, death, and harm caused by the long-standing global pandemic. He also prayed for the reopening of international travel restrictions. It is his sincere hope that the Australian government will lift the entry restrictions for travellers from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Southeast Asian nations. Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, the Pure Ocean-Wide Assembly of Bodhisattvas, the ancestral masters, and all earthly creatures knelt together, sincerely pleading with the heavens and the earth to grant their grace. They asked for for all beings and for the removal of the various forms of suffering caused by this pandemic. At that moment, the heavens and the earth shone with a brilliant light, reflecting the radiance within the beings of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. The light shone in all directions, a magnificent and deeply moving sight.
The Power of Selfless Vows
The value of a vow lies in its ability to relieve the suffering of all beings. What we call a Great Vow and Great Power is a form of immense strength generated by a heart that is completely selfless, devoid of the ego, and dedicated to the total offering of one's body, mind, and spirit. This strength arises from the hope that all beings may leave suffering behind. This powerful force is capable of resonating with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way of the universe and the Dharma Realm. It can transform the selfishness, greed, and distorted human hearts that have contributed to the pandemic, as well as the harm that these conditions have inflicted upon our body, mind, and spirit. As the presiding Bodhisattvas of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva fully support the vow of Practitioner Su.
Reflecting on the Causes of Suffering
This pandemic is not a random occurrence. It is the result of people living in excessive comfort for too long, while simultaneously engaging in calculation, competition, and mutual harm. To issue a vow that is purely good and pure, one must be in a state of . One cannot have even the slightest deviation or selfish thought in the heart to achieve such a result. Practitioner Su possesses these qualities, which is why he is able to receive the cooperation and support of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, the Pure Ocean-Wide Assembly of Bodhisattvas, and the ancestral masters. It is also his own virtue and practice that have moved the heavens and the spirits to assist him in fulfilling his vow, much like the way one might pray for rain and receive it. We hope that the travel restrictions imposed due to the pandemic will be lifted and that international travel will resume smoothly, just as we have prayed.
A Future of Harmony and Protection
We believe that through the united efforts of Namo Amituofo, Practitioner Su, and all the venerable masters and Dharma protectors at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, we will not only benefit countless living beings by freeing them from the threat of the pandemic and restoring normal life, but more importantly, we will protect the lifeblood of the True Teachings of the Pure Land at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, ensuring that it can be continued and passed on to future generations.
