I am Li Muyuan, speaking to you from the of Ultimate Bliss. In my previous life, I served as the President of the Singapore Buddhist Lodge. My journey to this place was not a simple one; it followed a period of severe illness that eventually led to the end of my life in the human world. It was only through the immense of Practitioner Su, who rescued me from the depths of the hells and guided me to the Western Pure Land, that I am here today. Looking back, this is not a story of personal glory, but rather a testament to profound good fortune. I am deeply grateful that I came to know Practitioner Su, whose extraordinary skills and dedication made my current existence in the Western Pure Land possible.
In truth, without the boundless compassion of and the tireless efforts of Practitioner Su, I would not be the Li Muyuan who resides in the Western Pure Land today. Now, I have been blessed once more by the grace of Practitioner Su. I have been given the rare and inconceivable opportunity to work alongside him to perform for the I accumulated during my time in the human world. This is a task of immense complexity, yet Practitioner Su has accomplished it with ease. For those of us who have been guided to the Western Pure Land, we are spared the necessity of returning to the cycle of rebirth in the human world. By resolving these debts now, we ensure that we are not pulled back by our past actions, which would otherwise prevent us from remaining in the Western Pure Land. This is the true compassion of Practitioner Su; he understands our hearts, and for this, I am eternally grateful.
As spirits without physical bodies, we enjoy a life of clarity, freedom, and magnificence in the Western Pure Land. However, we lack the ability to perform Chao Du for the sentient beings with whom we share karmic affinity, or for the karmic creditors who remain trapped within the cycle of rebirth or wandering through various spaces. Now that this precious opportunity has arisen, I cherish it beyond words. This is an experience I have never encountered before, and I did not know what to expect. Therefore, while the human world was still shrouded in the darkness of the early morning, I followed the others to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, waiting for Practitioner Su to lead us forward.
At that moment, the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre was bathed in a brilliant golden light. This radiance was boundless, far brighter and more dazzling than the light of day. Although such scenes are common in the Western Pure Land, to witness this manifestation within the human world left me truly astonished and filled with praise. It is a great pity that the physical eyes of ordinary people cannot perceive this. The space occupied by the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, as seen from the spiritual realms, is not visible to the naked eye. Only those with the necessary karmic affinity and opened spiritual vision can behold it. We sincerely hope that a person of great merit in the human world will arise, resolve to build this temple, and allow the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to manifest fully in this world, for the merit of such an act would be immeasurable.
I looked upon the sentient beings within my own space, and they were countless. They pointed at me, calling me a coward for hiding away, claiming they could not find me until now. They gathered to settle their accounts, making gestures as if to strike me, but a powerful force held them back. It was undoubtedly the protectors who saved me. Some of these beings opened their eyes wide, angrily recounting the unfair treatment they had suffered at my hands. Others were former female acquaintances who wept bitterly, accusing me of heartlessness and various other wrongs.
Faced with these painful memories of a past that felt entirely foreign, I could only accept everything completely. I knew that I had committed too many mistakes and forged countless grievances. I offered them my sincere repentance and deepest apologies. Even the animals I had consumed in the past—the chickens, ducks, pigs, fish, and shrimp—appeared before me, staring with wide eyes and demanding that I return their lives. Their appearance, so vivid and face-to-face, shocked me. In an instant, I felt the immense suffering of these beings and the weight of the sins I had created. I could not help but shed hot tears of sorrow.
I am deeply grateful for the compassion of the Buddha, who always provides the comfort we need at the most appropriate time. The Buddha-light surrounding us and the continuous chanting of the Buddha-name smoothed the angry emotions and twisted expressions of the spirits. Some were moved to tears; others were astonished to see their animal forms fade away, returning to their original human appearances. Many grew calm, ceasing their loud roars. A voice echoed through the air: Children, chant Namo Amituofo! Follow the golden light to Namo Amituofo! This gentle, kind voice softened everyone's hearts. One spirit began to chant, and soon, I heard everyone following along, chanting Namo Amituofo as they moved toward the golden light ahead.
Witnessing these scenes, my heart is filled with endless gratitude. Only the compassionate power and great merit of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su can resolve the resentment and hatred held within the hearts of our karmic creditors.
I offer my gratitude to Namo Amituofo. I offer my gratitude to Practitioner Su. Namo Amituofo.
This message was recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
