Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju teaches that both favourable and challenging conditions arise from the heart and the laws of and cause and effect. When you find yourself in a favourable situation, you must be grateful for everything and use your resources wisely to advance quickly on your path. Conversely, when you face a challenging test, you should also be grateful, for it provides the necessary friction to help you break through and move forward. These tests are essential, for it is only through them that you can truly understand your own capacity and identify the areas where you are still lacking.
When you are experiencing favourable conditions, it is vital to maintain your momentum. You must not stop, nor should you become overly attached to the of the moment. It is during these times that the danger of arrogance is greatest. Therefore, you should:
Before you have fully transformed karma, confusion is always lurking nearby. You must not be careless, for the realities of aging, sickness, and death can manifest at any moment, potentially leading to being reincarnated once again. Even after you have transformed karma and become an awakened being, the work of saving beings is endless and requires constant dedication.
When you are facing a challenging test, you must not succumb to suffering. There is always a reason for such difficulties, and there is always something within yourself that requires adjustment or introspection. Perhaps your own personality traits have attracted karma to manifest, which in turn hinders your practice. You must be vigilant and not allow these obstacles to cause you to lose your resolve or retreat from your path. Instead, you should:
Only by doing so will you find the breakthrough, improvement, and progress you seek.
At Hsiang Kuang: A Sacred Sanctuary, whether favourable conditions or challenging tests manifest, you are encouraged to accept and bear them with a calm and open heart. Namo Amituofo, the Teacher, and Practitioner Su are always by your side to offer support and guidance. It is our sincere hope that within this environment of Goodness, you will continue to practise diligently and soon see your true nature. Recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
