During the Taiwan New Year Assembly, we gather to seek and clarity for the year ahead. Many people pray for what they call 'great fortune,' hoping for a life of ease and abundance. However, we must ask ourselves: within the currents of our destiny, how can one truly navigate the waves of impermanence that define our world? If you seek to walk in great fortune, you must first understand the nature of your own destiny. It is only through profound change—a transformation of the heart and mind—that true, lasting fortune can manifest in your life.
Great fortune is not a windfall that arrives without effort; it is not something one gains without labour. Within the complex web of Causal Conditions, you must strive to break through the obstacles that hinder your progress. In this cycle of rebirth, it is rare for everything to go exactly as we wish. Because of our past actions, we often encounter resistance and suffering. If you truly desire to walk in great fortune, you must cultivate a clear heart and a sharp mind:
When people in this world seek blessings, they often do so without understanding the underlying principles of the universe. They chase after fleeting desires, forgetting that the true path to happiness lies in alignment with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. Do not let your heart become lost in the confusion of worldly pursuits. Instead, you should engage in the practice of reality—the practice of truth. By aligning your life with the Dharma, you move beyond the limitations of ordinary luck and step into the light of genuine, spiritual prosperity. Let your actions be guided by wisdom, and let your heart be anchored in the name of . This is the only way to truly leave suffering behind and find the happiness you seek.
