Practising Goodness
When your physical body is burdened by the weight of illness, you may find yourself asking: how should my heart and spirit respond to this suffering? It is essential to understand that this physical form is not a singular entity. Rather, it is a manifestation formed by the coming together of countless conditions and causes. Within this body reside innumerable sentient beings, all connected to your past actions and karmic history.
As Practitioner Su often reminds us, the body is a universe unto itself. Because it is a universe, it contains a multitude of spirits, each with their own unique personalities, habits, and unresolved grievances. To truly transform your karma, you must be diligent in your mental discipline. You must stop all evil thoughts and replace them with wholesome, virtuous intentions. When your thoughts are no longer in sync with the negative energy of demons or resentful spirits, a profound change occurs. These beings will either be transformed by the power of your and the Buddha’s light, or they will naturally depart, finding no further purchase in your heart. This is the precise moment when your karma is transformed, and you begin to leave suffering behind to find true happiness.
