Understanding Namo Amituofo and the Forty-eight Great Vows
To truly 'see through' is a profound skill of the heart. It is not merely a superficial understanding or a concept we hold within our practice. Many people mistakenly believe that if they keep a teaching in their mind, they have achieved this state. However, simply remembering a concept is not the same as truly seeing through the nature of reality.
How, then, does one achieve true 'seeing through'? It begins when your heart has a master—your original nature—and remains unmoved by the shifting circumstances of life. You must clearly distinguish between what is illusory and what is real. When you are not deceived by the illusory world, you do not cling to the environment, nor do you cling to your own thoughts. This is the state of being truly free. When you can let go of all attachments, you find a natural, effortless state of meditative concentration. Only then can you truly say that you have seen through the nature of existence.
A wise person understands that one must not cling to the illusory. Attachment to these fleeting phenomena only brings genuine suffering. These illusions pass like shadows in the night; once they are gone, they never return. Why, then, would you allow them to remain and entangle your heart? Such attachments only serve to obstruct your clarity and prevent you from being the master of your own life.
If you truly possess , you will understand the suffering of all beings. Every action you take should be filled with sincerity. It is through this sincerity that you can begin to dismantle the barriers created by your own attachments.
True 'seeing through' leads directly to purification. When you reach this state, you become an awakened being, one who truly knows how to listen to the Buddha's guidance. This is the path of genuine practice:
When you cultivate these three, your body, mind, and spirit will attain a state of perfect harmony and completeness. This is the essence of true cultivation, far beyond the ordinary. It is the way to return to your original nature and find the peace you have long sought.
