The Consequences of Neglect

If you fail to cherish this time, your past karma will inevitably manifest. When you do not practise diligently, your karmic creditors will gather, and various illnesses may arise within your body and mind. If you do not work to change the "self," personal ego, and selfishness, your blessings will gradually dissipate, consumed by your own karma. If you fail to reach the state of an awakened being, you will remain trapped in the darkness of ignorance. Should you be reincarnated, you will only be left with empty sighs, having lost the most precious opportunity for rebirth in the Western Pure Land.
