The Wandering Spirit Finds Home

The Endless Cycle of Wandering

Dear children, your spirits have been trapped in the cycle of the six realms of rebirth for countless eons. You have wandered through this world and others, drifting through every possible state of existence. In all that time, your spirit has had no place to rest. You have drifted aimlessly, like a leaf caught in a storm, unable to find a moment of true peace or stillness. You have been tossed by the winds of karma, never knowing where you truly belong.

The Awakening Call of the Buddha

Suddenly, you heard the resonant sound of the six-character name, Namo Amituofo. You also encountered the profound wisdom of the Infinite Life Sutra (The Buddha Speaks the Mahayana, Infinite Life, Adornment, Purity, Impartiality, and Enlightenment Sutra). These sacred sounds acted like a thunderclap, shaking your spirit awake from its long, dark slumber. Now, you have found a place to settle within the Fragrant Light of the Buddha. You no longer need to drift through the void, for you have finally come home to the light of the Buddha.

Letting Go of the Past

Look back at your past experiences and realise that they are all illusions. When you see through these illusions, you will understand that there is nothing left. When you truly let go, you will feel a lightness in your body, mind, and spirit. This is your original, true face. Why do you continue to carry the heavy baggage of the past? It is so heavy that it makes it difficult for you to even breathe. You have already tasted the bitterness of suffering to its fullest. If you continue to cling to your old habits, the suffering will only intensify.

Returning to the True Self

Now that you have encountered the Buddha, I ask you to shake off the dust and grime of the world that covers you. You must:

• Cleanse your body and change into new robes, entering a state of purity free from worldly attachments.
• Purify your heart and let go of all wandering thoughts, entering a state of purity where the mind is still.
• Achieve full understanding and realise that your original nature is pure and empty of all things.
• Sweep away all obstacles and break through the confusion to see the truth.

When you do this, your inherent Buddha-nature will manifest. Only then will the wandering spirit cease its drifting, and you will enter the realm of eternal truth and no-self. Namo Amituofo.
