During the and the Noon Offering, we are reminded of the profound virtue of vastness. A heart that is truly broad and a spirit that is grounded in the Truth can encompass all things in the universe. When you allow your body to be at ease and your heart to be filled with , you will find that all matters in life naturally become peaceful and settled. This is the state of a practitioner who has learned to let go of the trivial burdens of the world, allowing the mind-capacity to expand beyond .
How should we view the affairs of this world? We should observe them with a gentle smile. When you look upon the complexities of human life, realise that they are but a fleeting moment, passing as quickly as the snap of a finger. The wise person is one who can broadly accept the infinite nature of existence without attachment. A boundless mind-capacity is the true meaning of being vast and long-lasting; it is the mark of one who has transcended the narrow confines of the ego to embrace the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.
We do not exist in isolation. We exist together with all earthly creatures, sharing the same breath and the same life. Through the power of the true self, we can traverse through this world and other spaces with ease. In this state of vastness, the heart-fields open up, allowing the light of wisdom to shine through. One can see the old man bending down in joy, a symbol of humility and the simple happiness found in the Truth. Looking up, smiling at the light between the clouds, you will realise that this is the true self emerging from within, radiant and pure.
