What is the true value of a human life? What is the true purpose of this physical body that we inhabit? When we are born into this world, we must pause and reflect deeply upon our origins. Have we come here merely to settle the debts of our past , drifting aimlessly through the cycle of rebirth? Or have we arrived here, guided by the power of our vows, to fulfil a higher, sacred purpose? We are here to transform our karma and bring our vows to fruition.
If you only seek your own liberation, you are following the path of the . However, the path is the supreme Mahayana Buddhism. It is the great that allows us to save both ourselves and others, helping all beings leave suffering behind and attain rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Without this compassionate heart, this profound vow, and this dedicated practice, it is difficult to align yourself with the Buddha-heart, the Buddha-vow, and the Buddha-actions.
Even if you chant , if your heart is limited by worldly attachments, the Buddha cannot truly enter it. Even if you perform prostrations, if your body is limited by ego, your practice will be difficult to sustain. Even if you recite the Sutras, if your body and mind are limited by confusion, you will struggle to truly grasp the essence of the teachings. When the heart is narrow, the Dharma cannot take root, and the wisdom of the Buddha remains distant.
Therefore, what is the true value of a practitioner’s life and body? It is to engage in diligent practice to realise your true nature. It is to unite your heart, your vows, and your actions with those of the Buddha. By doing so, you become a vessel for the Buddha’s , working tirelessly to save all beings and guide them to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is the ultimate purpose of your existence. Namo Amituofo.
