The serves as a vital bridge for all practitioners, offering a profound opportunity to reflect upon the and align our hearts with the infinite of . During the third session of this sacred ceremony, we are blessed with the wisdom of Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, who illuminates the path of chanting Namo Amituofo for rebirth.
A true practitioner of the path is defined not by their external circumstances, but by the unwavering stability of their heart. Even when the physical body begins to manifest the inevitable signs of birth, aging, sickness, and death, the practitioner remains entirely unshaken. They do not harbour fear regarding the transition of death, for their mind is anchored in deep meditative concentration. This profound stability, born from a lifetime of sincere practice, is truly admirable and serves as a beacon of inspiration for us all.
To walk this path effectively, one must develop a clear understanding of the nature of our existence. A true practitioner recognises the deep suffering that permeates this world. They see the tragedy inherent in the cycle of being reincarnated and the pain that accompanies birth, aging, sickness, and death. Because they perceive these truths with clarity, they no longer cling to the fleeting pleasures of this world. Instead, they cultivate a sincere faith in the existence of Namo Amituofo and the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, transforming this understanding into a deep, heartfelt longing for the Pure Land.
With this longing, the practitioner engages in the active, daily practice of chanting Namo Amituofo. They strive for rebirth with a singular focus, ensuring their heart is filled only with the Buddha. There is no room for other thoughts or worldly distractions. They chant the name of Namo Amituofo with the utmost sincerity and urgency, moving forward on the path with directness and determination. As the sound of the Buddha's name chanting orbits their mind, they maintain this focus without interruption, day and night.
This continuous, sincere effort eventually calls forth a response from the Buddha. Namo Amituofo arrives to lead the practitioner home, carrying the lotus flower that the practitioner has nurtured through their daily cultivation. The room becomes filled with the divine fragrance of the lotus, and the practitioner is guided directly into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is the beautiful, transformative reality for the practitioner who chants Namo Amituofo for rebirth. May we all strive to attain this state of mind, leaving suffering behind to find true and lasting happiness.
