This is a record of an interview with He Jingxi, who received the name Shi Kaiche. He is the father of Shi Xiuai and sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on July 25, 2025.
Shi Kaiche (He Jingxi) speaks:
". I am currently residing within the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, seated upon my own great lotus, chanting the Buddha-name. The sound of the Buddha-name is so incredibly familiar to me now. Right before my eyes, I am truly seeing Namo Amituofo. The and the majestic countenance of the Buddha are exactly as I had seen in my dreams in the past; I never expected that He would now be standing right here, truly and vividly, before me.
I am filled with —a profound Dharma joy. I am deeply grateful for the Buddha's compassion toward me, and I am also profoundly thankful for the guidance of Practitioner Su, who led me to this land where I can finally truly rest.
I must express my sincere repenting for the fact that my own practice of chanting the Buddha-name was not sufficiently effective during my life. I was unable to see the Buddha through my own power, nor did I truly understand the many realities of the Dharma. Now that I have arrived in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I have finally realised that I still had many waiting to seek revenge against me, yet I had departed this world just like that. Although I felt I had done my best in that lifetime, the debts I owed remained unpaid, and there are still many karmic creditors suffering because of me.
During my time here in the Buddha-land, I have watched Practitioner Su tirelessly performing massive amounts of Chao Du for the sake of all beings. It was then that I truly began to reflect upon my own practice.
For most of my time spent practising, I focused solely on chanting the Buddha-name, thinking that this alone would allow me to achieve the goals I desired in my practice. I lacked the heart to truly save beings in the way that Practitioner Su does. To speak of it now, I feel truly ashamed. It was through the manifestation of Practitioner Su that I was finally able to see that practice can reach such a magnificent realm, and that this realm depends entirely on one's sincerity and the depth of one's vow.
I have come to realise that in the process of helping others with such a sincere heart, one is simultaneously helping oneself. This is the true Dharma joy of practice. Watching Practitioner Su, who is so authentic and gives of herself without any reservation, I have finally grasped how a person who studies the Buddha's teachings should treat all beings. I am deeply grateful for this manifestation of such practice—giving without reservation, with a heart entirely dedicated to all beings. I hold such deep respect for this in my heart. Although I no longer possess a human body, I will now diligently follow the Buddha's side to learn. I am so grateful for the Causal Conditions that allowed me to be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
I am profoundly grateful to my daughter in this life for saving my spirit. I pray that she may have deep realisations and great achievements on her own path of practice in this life, so that we may eventually return together to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am filled with gratitude.
Shi Kaiche bows in reverence. Namo Amituofo."
