Ripples Remaining
Interview with Li Peng (Former Premier of the State Council of China)
In the Midst of the Suffering of the Saha World, Only Fragrant Light is a Ray of Hope
If one’s emotions are not heavy, one would not be born into this Saha world. Once one enters this realm, it becomes difficult to let go of attachments and sever the ties of desire. One becomes caught in the cycle of reincarnation, bound tightly by the threads of emotion. One has yet to realise that this human body is merely an illusion; within this illusion, we remain entangled in complex relationships. How can sentient beings find a way to resolve this?
To cut through these threads of emotion, one must possess true wisdom. Although this may seem like a cold or unfeeling approach, it is, in reality, a form of compassion that far surpasses ordinary sentiment. When one practises and removes the stains of defilement, purity will manifest, and one will find the moment to return to one's true self. In this state of , one will realise that all beings and oneself are one.
What we call insentient beings—the flowers, the grass, the trees, the mountains, and the physical world—all possess a spirit within them. There are flower spirits, grass spirits, tree spirits, mountain spirits, river spirits, and spirits of the land. There are countless such creatures and countless beings. Though their spaces and forms differ, their true self is the same. Each one is a Buddha in essence, yet they are obscured by the barriers of confusion. Though their shapes are different, their hearts are fundamentally the same.
I counsel all sentient beings to develop the ability to believe, to understand, and to put these teachings into practice and realisation. One must grasp this precious opportunity while one possesses a human body. This is the time to seek liberation and achieve rebirth in the of Ultimate Bliss. Do not let this life pass in vain, for the path to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is open to all who awaken to the truth.
