The Boundless Nature of One Moment

During the Thrice Yearning Ceremony and the noon offering, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju provided a profound teaching on the concept of One Moment. One Moment is not a fixed point in time that can be easily measured or defined. It is fluid and elusive, for it does not necessarily refer to any specific time at all. It encompasses the past, which has already occurred and passed away; it includes the present, which is unfolding; and it holds the infinite potential of the future, which has yet to manifest. One Moment exists within a realm of infinite possibilities.

Transcending the Limits of Time and Space

We must understand that One Moment resides within infinite space and infinite time. Whether we look to the past, the present, or the future, each era contains its own unique One Moment. While One Moment can exist within the realm of impermanence, it also possesses a quality that transcends it. When one achieves the state of an awakened being, one realises that this very moment is eternal. In that state of true nature, One Moment is found within eternity itself.

Seizing the Golden Opportunity for Rebirth

This Dharma assembly that we are attending today is, in itself, a precious One Moment. All of us participating here are part of this unfolding reality. You must cherish this specific moment, for it is a rare and excellent opportunity to secure your rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Every time you chant the name of Namo Amituofo, our compassionate Father in the West hears your call. He is always there, reaching out with His hands to welcome His children home. Do not let this moment pass in vain; let your heart be filled with the sincerity of your practice.
