Bearing the Suffering of All Beings at All Times, Thus Inviting the Presence of Amitabha Buddha
Harmony and , expressed through a gentle and pleasant countenance, is a genuine skill of the heart. It is a profound practice that goes far beyond mere outward appearance. When we speak of this state, we are referring to the deep, internal cultivation that allows one to remain calm and composed regardless of the circumstances.
It is the manifestation of our deep respect for the inherent Buddha-nature within all beings. It is the practical application of the principle of respect for all Buddhas in our daily conduct. This quality is possessed by those who have cultivated true virtue, and it serves as a clear reflection of one's inner meditative concentration. Because it is rooted in a stable mind, it remains steadfast, unmoved and unchanged by any external circumstances or conditions that may arise in the world around us.
Harmony and Joy, expressed through a gentle and pleasant countenance, is entirely natural and free from even the slightest trace of force or artificiality. It radiates naturally from one's demeanour and attitude, creating an atmosphere of peace and serenity that others can feel. This presence makes others feel joyful and drawn to you, as if they are bathing in a gentle spring breeze. This is an essential quality for those who wish to teach and guide other beings toward the right path.
We must be mindful of the —greed, anger, delusion, arrogance, and doubt—which are the primary representatives of all evil actions. Among these, 'anger' is the greatest enemy of Harmony and Joy. It acts as a barrier that prevents us from seeing the truth and clouds our ability to interact with others with and clarity.
For a practitioner, any disturbance in the mind, from the very first thought and intention, is already the creation of negative . Therefore, you must guard your heart well and never allow a thought of anger to arise. Nurture your spirit with care, and let your face always reflect this inner Harmony and Joy. By doing so, you protect your practice and ensure that your conduct remains in alignment with the Truth. This message was recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
