The Path of Resolve: Overcoming Difficulties in Practice

Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju teaches:

Children, do not fear the difficulties you encounter in your practice; what you should truly fear is a lack of determination. The karma you have accumulated over countless lifetimes—whether it be of Goodness or evil—will inevitably manifest during your process of practice. These moments are not merely random obstacles; they are tests of your resolve, designed to help you see your true nature more clearly. When these manifestations of karma arise, you must face them with courage. Do not be afraid, for fear only clouds the heart and weakens your resolve.

The Rare Sanctuary of Hsiang Kuang

To be able to practise here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is a rare and precious opportunity, not easily encountered in this world. You must understand that you are supported by a powerful spiritual presence:

• Namo Amituofo is truly present here, guiding and protecting all who seek the path.
• Your Teacher is here to provide the wisdom necessary to navigate the complexities of the Dharma.
• Practitioner Su is here, working tirelessly to assist in the purification of all beings.

For every difficulty you face, there is a method to resolve it. However, this requires you to be grounded and diligent in your practice. You must walk this path step by step, with sincerity and unwavering focus. The only true danger is a lack of determination to face and break through these barriers.

The Peril of Retreat

If you choose to retreat when faced with adversity, you will find it impossible to withstand the pull of your past karma. When the manifestation of karma creates obstacles, it can lead you astray from the Right Way. This is especially critical at the moment of death. If you falter at that final hour, you risk falling back into the cycle of being reincarnated. You must be extremely cautious and vigilant in your daily life, for every moment is a preparation for that final transition.

The Strength of Faith

Those who possess the determination and perseverance to break through these difficulties are the ones who truly believe in themselves and in the Buddha. By maintaining your faith and your practice, you will find the strength to overcome any obstacle that stands in your way. Do not let your resolve waver. Keep your heart set on the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and continue to chant Namo Amituofo all the way. Through this, you will surely find the path to liberation and the fulfilment of your vows.
