The term 'Diligent Practice for Spiritual Advancement' refers to the process of progressing and elevating oneself. It encompasses the practical actions that assist in the growth of one's spiritual achievements and the continuous upward elevation of one's body, mind, and spirit. To practise diligently is to engage in a process of continuous purification. By doing so, one allows , mind, and spirit to ascend steadily until one reaches the state of , ultimately realising one's true nature and attaining Buddhahood.
Since the ultimate goal of our practice is to realise our true nature and attain Buddhahood, the opportunity to encounter the Buddha and learn from the Buddha is our most supreme and magnificent condition for advancement. Following the Buddha's actions is, therefore, the most supreme and magnificent form of diligent practice. When these supreme conditions and diligent practices advance in tandem, it is a profound blessing that significantly aids in the growth of one's spiritual achievements.
In this world, conditions arise and cease according to the laws of nature. Therefore, you must cherish this present moment and ensure that not a single second passes in vain. At the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, the fourfold assembly of disciples has come to understand the true meaning of the Buddha. At this very moment, you have the rare opportunity to encounter , to learn from the Buddha, and to follow the Buddha by engaging in the practical work of saving beings and helping them leave suffering behind. This is what we call 'Diligent Practice for Spiritual Advancement.'
This practice involves cultivating the virtues of the Buddha, which include:
To truly save beings and help them leave suffering behind, you must first begin by saving yourself, as well as the countless beings, cells, and spirits residing within your own body. This involves inviting your ancestors from many lifetimes, your teachers, your family members, and your to accept spiritual deliverance. You must invite these beings to resolve their conflicts, receive the benefits of spiritual deliverance, or simply ask them to live in peace with your physical body, so that you may all follow the Buddha together in the work of saving the world and rescuing beings.
Learning from the Buddha and following the Buddha is the diligent practice required for Awakening. Faith in the Buddha is the primary condition for this path. You must act according to the Buddha's teachings and ensure that your heart remains steadfast in following the Buddha. Only then can you truly learn and gain profound insights from this diligent practice. Furthermore, you must have faith in yourself, knowing that you are capable of living by your vows. Listening to the teachings and being obedient to the guidance provided is of the utmost importance.
The Pure Land path is the One Vehicle Buddhism, the direct way to become a Buddha. By learning from the Buddha and following the Buddha, we hope that all practitioners will soon reach Awakening, realise their true nature, and attain Buddhahood.
