The World is an Illusion, Seeking Truth in Vain; Only Practitioner Su Has Found It
Ripples Remaining
In the Midst of the Suffering of the Saha World, Only Fragrant Light is a Ray of Hope
Returning for Another Lifetime to Save Beings, Practitioner Su Does So in Every Lifetime
Every single being possesses the eight consciousnesses and the fifty-one mental factors. Within our own bodies, there reside countless beings who have been with us through immeasurable lifetimes. Depending on the karmic relationships we have forged with them, these beings interact with us in various ways: some come to collect debts, others to repay them, some to offer gratitude, and others to seek revenge for past grievances.
When we consider this, we realise that every thought and intention we harbour, and every ripple of energy we emit, attracts immeasurable and boundless karmic beings. Throughout the day and night, we are constantly entangled in the laws of and cause and effect, navigating these complex relationships of debt and repayment, gratitude and resentment. Given this reality, how can one truly maintain a pure heart? How can one even begin to speak of reaching the state of an awakened being?
This is precisely why the Buddha, in His infinite , continuously urges the fourfold assembly to keep the Buddha-name flowing in their hearts. Chanting then becomes a continuous, flowing stream that never stops. Namo Amituofo protects the fourfold assembly with His vast, majestic power, His power of immeasurable merit, and His power of great fearlessness. Because of this protection, we are able to undergo a profound Body-Mind-Spirit purification. It allows us to cultivate the Three Learnings of , Samadhi, and Wisdom simultaneously and eventually realise our true nature. What an immense grace this is!
Without this, we would remain trapped in a state of continuous thinking, forever caught in the web of our own mental activity. How could we ever hope to escape the control of our karma or the domination of the cycle of rebirth? The force of karmic rebirth is far too powerful for us to overcome on our own. It is nearly impossible for ordinary people to rely solely on their own strength to break free from the destiny of and achieve liberation from life and death. This is why Namo Amituofo, the Buddha-name, and the of Ultimate Bliss are so vital to our existence.
If there were no Namo Amituofo and no Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, where would immeasurable and boundless beings go? We would truly be left to suffer endlessly in the vast sea of karma and the cycle of rebirth. Without the Buddha's , provided through the Forty-eight Great Vows and the power of the Buddha-name, how would any being have the opportunity to achieve liberation from life and death, enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and finally leave suffering behind to find happiness?
To the fourfold assembly, I say this: you must treat Namo Amituofo with the utmost respect and reverence. Offer your prostrations with the most sincere and devout heart. This is not because the Buddha requires such devotion from beings, but because this is the only way you can save yourselves. The merit gained from prostrations is beyond words. Whether you, as members of the fourfold assembly, can truly attain this merit depends entirely on whether you can bring forth a heart of absolute sincerity and reverence when you bow to the Buddha.
The grace that Namo Amituofo bestows upon all beings is vast and boundless. If Namo Amituofo were not present in this world to save people and all beings, it would be truly difficult for us to escape the cycle of rebirth, and even harder to enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Therefore, keeping the Buddha-name in your heart is of the utmost importance for your practice.
You must apply yourselves with diligent practice. Learn to master the skills of Buddha-recitation until chanting then becomes a continuous, flowing stream that never stops. You must reach the state where you chant, yet there is no sense of chanting, and where there is no chanting, yet the recitation continues. You must be able to remain unmoved even when the world around you is in constant motion. This is the essential skill required for those who wish to realise their true nature. Namo Amituofo.
