Selfishness is Suffering
We often mistakenly believe that the things we possess are real and permanent. We cling to them as if they were the foundation of our lives. However, when the truth of impermanence arrives, the suffering that follows is often unbearable. We must realise that the constant change of all things is simply the natural order of the universe. Why, then, do we allow ourselves to be so deeply affected by these fleeting emotional entanglements?
If you can exist in this world without the burden of ego-attachment, you will find that you can adapt to all circumstances without being swayed by them. This state of being, where one remains unmoved by the shifting tides of the world, is the true skill of an awakened being. It is the result of great cultivation, allowing the practitioner to maintain a steady heart regardless of external conditions.

These are always bound together by a single thread of emotional entanglement. To be free of these entanglements is to find true coolness and peace. When you let nothing weigh upon your heart, you are no longer a slave to these conditions. Whether these emotional ties bring what we perceive as suffering or happiness, they are all subject to change and are not the ultimate state of reality. Why must we insist on tasting the bitterness or sweetness of these states? They only cause the waves of your heart to rise and fall in constant agitation.
Having a mind of attachment always gives rise to emotion, which keeps us trapped in the cycle of rebirth. Conversely, having a mind that is unattached—a state of —is the key to true freedom. In a deep meditative state, there is no talk of emotion or connection. The heart remains constant, unmoved by suffering or . This state is neither suffering nor happiness, but a state of absolute, clear awareness. Whether you are acting naturally or dwelling in non-action, the realisation of this truth happens in a single, fleeting moment.
