The Light That Surpasses the Sun and Moon

On the twenty-second of December, 2023, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju offered these profound teachings regarding the nature of the Buddha-light.

The Radiance Beyond the Heavens

What kind of radiance possesses the power to surpass the brilliance of the sun and the moon? While the sun and moon provide light to the physical world, there exists a higher, spiritual radiance that functions far beyond the limitations of the material realm. This is the Inconceivable Light, which possesses qualities that the physical sun and moon can never replicate:

• Immeasurable and Boundless: It shines throughout the entire universe without limit.
• Unobstructed Penetration: It passes through all barriers, reaching every corner of existence.
• Equal and Universal: It illuminates all beings with perfect impartiality.
• Wisdom Without Hindrance: It clears away the darkness of ignorance, revealing the truth of all things.
• Eternal and Inextinguishable: It is a constant, unchanging light that never fades.
• Pure and Unstained: It remains untainted by the defilements of the world.
• Joyful and Serene: It inspires deep joy in all beings, dissolving anger and resentment.
• Liberated and Free: It provides the path to total liberation from all forms of distress.
• Stable and Unwavering: It brings a profound sense of peace, free from the ripples of agitation.

The Power of the Twelve Lights

This Inconceivable Light is the manifestation of the Twelve Lights of Namo Amituofo. It is empowered by the Great Divine Power, the Great Merit, and the Great Vow-Action Power of Namo Amituofo. This Buddha-light shines universally, encompassing the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre and surrounding all of you, the disciples of the Buddha.

We must ask ourselves: can this light truly assist you in awakening from your confusion? Can it help you transform your doubt into profound faith? The Twelve Lights of Namo Amituofo possess the supreme ability to subdue demons. Subduing these negative influences is a primary function of this light. Each time the light overcomes such obstacles, its divine power, merit, and vow-action power are further enhanced and strengthened.

The Path of Compassion and Wisdom

To truly benefit from this light, you must cultivate the correct foundation within your own heart. You are encouraged to use the following as your guiding principles:

• Compassion: A heart that seeks to save all beings from suffering.
• Wisdom: The clear understanding of the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.
• A Sincere Heart: A mind that is honest, pure, and dedicated to the path of awakening.

Only by using these as your foundation can you activate the Twelve Lights and allow them to manifest their full potential. When you align your heart with these virtues, you will achieve the inconceivable result of subduing demons and saving beings. This is the most wonderful practice for those who wish to save the world and guide all suffering souls toward liberation. Namo Amituofo.
