This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Wang Licai, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition and his message to his daughter, Lay Practitioner Wang Limei. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxi, on August 4, 2023.
Lay Practitioner Wang Licai speaks:
". Limei, my dear daughter, it is your father. I have been waiting for you. I knew in my heart that you would help me, just as you cared for me so tenderly when I was still in the human world. I held onto the firm belief that you would find a way to reach me, and you did.
The moment I heard my name called and was brought forth, I knew that my salvation had arrived. I had waited for such a long time, but my faith in you never wavered. Now, I have finally been rescued. I have arrived in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, and I am filled with such immense . Please, do not worry about me anymore; I am doing wonderfully here."
A Life Worth Living
"When I was preparing to depart from the human world, the illness was truly difficult to bear. It was a time of great suffering for my physical body. Yet, even in those darkest hours, having you and the family by my side brought such warmth to my heart. I felt content and at peace. Looking back now, I can say with absolute certainty that my life was truly worth it. Every trial and every moment of joy led me to this final, glorious destination.
I have never been one for many words, and even now, I find it hard to express the depth of what I feel. My memory has expanded, and I can recall events from many lifetimes ago. We are all beings caught in the cycle of samsara, reincarnated time and time again. Our meeting in this life was not a coincidence; it was the result of Causal Conditions from our shared past."
A Message to the Living
"Limei, I want you to go back and tell everyone: I have successfully achieved rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Do not grieve for me, and do not let your hearts be heavy with longing. Instead, I urge you all to focus on your practice. You must study the diligently and work on transforming yourselves from within. Stop looking at the faults and mistakes of others; stop wasting your precious energy on suspicion and doubt. You must learn to cultivate the Buddha-heart. If you do this, we will surely meet again in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Following Practitioner Su is a path of true practice. It is a path of genuine action and a way to truly serve all beings. It is an incredibly rare blessing to have a Buddha-like figure living in the world today. We must all cherish this opportunity, hold onto it tightly, and ensure that every one of us achieves rebirth in the Pure Land."
The Freedom of Letting Go
"Do not cling to this world any longer. Follow the example of Practitioner Su and learn to let go of everything. It is such a state of total freedom—it is truly enviable. Do not remain attached to the things of this world, for they are things you cannot take with you when you pass. When a person dies, they leave it all behind. Wake up to this truth as early as you can, so that you may be of greater help to this world while you are still in it.
It was only after I attained clarity that I truly understood these things. I hope that all of you can accept these words of mine. I am here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, and I am waiting for you all to join me."
