The Infinite Hope of the Dharma

During the first session of the Thrice Yearning Ceremony, we are graced with the profound teachings of Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, as recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on 25 April 2021.

The Boundless Horizon of Hope

Hope is truly infinite and boundless. My dear children, when you find yourselves caught in the midst of life’s most daunting challenges, you must never fall into despair or lose your resolve. You are not alone in your struggles.

Namo Amituofo is residing here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. His presence is a constant, guiding light for all who seek refuge. You must engage in sincere repenting, seek the Buddha’s guidance, and truly listen to the Buddha’s words. When you listen with an open heart and follow the path, you are already beginning your transformation.

The Synergy of Self and Buddha

Through diligent practice, your own inner strength will begin to awaken. As your self-effort arises, the boundless power of the Buddha will surely descend to bless and support you. When these two forces—your own sincerity and the Buddha’s compassion—advance together, your vows will be fulfilled, and your difficulties will be resolved.

You must cherish this magnificent Dharma affinity with all your heart. By doing so, you will save yourself, realise your true nature as an awakened being, and ultimately, help save the world from suffering.

The Courage to Walk the Path

Do not be afraid of suffering, and do not be afraid of the work that lies ahead. To achieve your ultimate goal, you must be willing to taste the bitterest of sorrows and undertake the most challenging of tasks. There is nothing in this world that can be achieved without labour and dedication.

Once you have exerted your own effort, the Buddha’s power will surely manifest to assist you. When these two powers work in harmony, your practice will reach fruition, and your deepest vows will be fulfilled.
