The Meaning of True Evolution

When we speak of evolution, we are referring to a process of moving forward—a development that is inherently positive and constructive. Evolution is a journey of progress, and it inevitably leaves behind the traces of time as it unfolds. In the context of the Buddha’s teachings, we observe how the Dharma has flowed through different eras: from the period of the True Dharma, through the period of the Semblance Dharma, and finally into our current age of the Dharma’s decline. Yet, throughout these shifting eras, one thing remains constant and unchanging: the reliance upon the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way to save all suffering beings.

The Universal Greeting of Namo Amituofo

Consider the evolution of the Pure Land path itself. In times past, it was said that every home had an image of Amitabha Buddha and every household revered Guan Yin Bodhisattva. Today, as we enter the bodhimanda, the common greeting shared among all practitioners is simply, "Namo Amituofo." This is a profound shift in our collective consciousness. Regardless of time, space, race, language, or skin colour, once the holy name of Namo Amituofo—the diamond seed of enlightenment—enters the ear, it is planted forever as a seed of the Way. This ensures that, in time, every being will have the opportunity to be saved.

The Boundless Reach of the Universal Buddha

This is the absolute truth of our existence. It is not limited to the human world; it applies equally to the spiritual realms, to this world and other worlds, and to the Ten Directions of the Dharma Realm. The Forty-eight Great Vows of Namo Amituofo are designed with this same universal scope. Because Namo Amituofo is the Universal Buddha, His reach is without boundaries. The vast, infinite beings throughout the boundless void are all the intended recipients of His salvation.

The Power of Deliverance

This is precisely why the twelve Buddha-lights bestowed upon Practitioner Su possess such magnificent power. Through the Chao Du performed by the Dharma Body of Practitioner Su, these lights can subdue beings across the Earth, the Dharma Realm, the universe, the Milky Way, the heavens beyond the heavens, and even other dimensions. Even the immeasurable and boundless demon crowds are guided into the Western Land of Dharma Nature. These beings are all connected to Namo Amituofo or Practitioner Su through karmic affinity. For many, the very beginning of this Dharma affinity was simply hearing the holy name of Namo Amituofo, which planted the seed that has now blossomed into the fruit of their salvation.

The Technology of the Dharma

The evolution of the Pure Land path has reached a point where it manifests as a form of "technology within technology." This capability is revealed through the process of purification and Awakening. Awakening is the ultimate goal of every practitioner, and today, it is attained because our practice is in perfect alignment with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. Practitioner Su, through his natural ability of Awakening and with the assistance of Namo Amituofo and his teachers, carries out the work of saving beings in a very real and tangible way. This is the technology within technology—a natural evolution of the Buddha’s teachings. That this has manifested in our time to allow beings to be saved is the greatest blessing for all sentient beings.
