The Essence of Purity

The Foundation of Purity

In the practice of the Pure Land path, everything is rooted in purity. It is the foundation upon which all spiritual progress is built. Within this state of purity, one finds clarity, wisdom, and the ability to act with purpose. It is a state of being where the mind is unclouded and the spirit is free. Those who have realised their true nature are inherently pure, clear, luminous, and active in their compassion. Their original nature is not something to be acquired, but something to be uncovered. Because this nature is infinite and boundless, all the myriad phenomena of the universe are merely expressions of this singular, pure reality.

The Integration of Communication

In this world, human communication relies on language, physical expression, and the written word. If we rely on only one of these, our understanding will inevitably be incomplete. However, when we integrate all three—the spoken word, the body's presence, and the clarity of text—we create the conditions for the most effective learning. By harmonising these expressions, we can convey the Truth more effectively and help others understand the path to liberation.

Counteracting the Five Turbidities

We must use our body, mind, and the Six Roots—our eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and consciousness—to counteract the Five Turbidities of this world. These turbidities are the states of impurity, confusion, and darkness that make practice difficult. By maintaining a pure and clear state, we can transform these obstacles into opportunities for growth. When our Six Roots are purified, we are no longer easily swayed by the external environment, and we can remain steadfast in our devotion to Namo Amituofo.

A Message to Attached Spirits

To the karmic creditors and attached spirits who reside within others, you must learn to make a new choice. Do not remain as ghosts trapped within the bodies of others, seeking vengeance for past grievances. Instead, let go of your resentment and resolve to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss to attain Buddhahood. This is the compassionate counsel offered by Practitioner Su, and it is the same advice that I, Namo Amituofo, offer to you today. May you leave suffering behind and find true happiness in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
