Selfishness is Suffering
This article records an interview with Venerable Chang Gao, who shares a profound account of the deliverance of spirits residing within a vast sea of flowers. This testimony highlights the miraculous power of Practitioner Su’s in liberating countless sentient beings trapped within the cycle of rebirth. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on March 26, 2023.
Venerable Chang Gao speaks:
". I am Chang Gao. When you quiet your heart, what sounds do you hear? Every entity in this world—every blade of grass, every stone, every flower—is a manifestation of a spirit that has been reincarnated. They all have voices. Can you hear them?"
"In a vast sea of flowers, each blossom competes for beauty. Depending on the character of the spirit within, the flower grows to mirror the soul of the being it houses. The posture of the flower reveals the hidden character of the spirit. It is truly inconceivable.
When Practitioner Su performs Chao Du through his Body, sentient beings across infinite spaces can be saved. As the Buddha-light descends, they are able to follow the light and the sound of the Buddha-name to depart from their confinement. They no longer need to remain trapped in these spaces. Every spirit that is liberated feels an overwhelming sense of and profound gratitude toward Practitioner Su."
"Today, during the Chao Du, the earth was covered in a sea of red flowers and lush greenery. It was a place rarely visited by humans. Yet, as Practitioner Su’s Dharma Body blessed the land, these beings received deliverance and were filled with immense happiness.
Within this expanse of red flowers and green grass, there existed a multitude of spirits. Every red flower held a spirit, and every blade of green grass housed one as well. The bees and butterflies gathering nectar from the flowers were all spirits. Even the soil, the sand, and the stones of this land were filled with spirits—there was not a single thing that was not a vessel for a soul."
"Practitioner Su’s golden light swept across this land with incredible speed—it took less than a second. Yet, in that briefest of moments, the golden light and the sound of the Buddha-name opened up all the spaces within this land. Every red flower, every blade of grass, every grain of dust, and every stone had its space opened, allowing the spirits trapped within the opportunity to depart.
A woman dressed in red emerged from one of the red flowers. Her clothing was adorned with elaborate decorations, suggesting she had lived a life of great wealth and status. However, her expression was filled with malice and hatred. It was clear she was deeply unhappy."
"I asked this woman, 'The Buddha-light has arrived; why do you not move forward?' She replied, 'I am filled with hatred.' I asked, 'What is it that you hate?' She said, 'I cannot allow anyone to surpass me. I must always be the first, the only one by the Emperor's side.' It turned out she was a concubine who, even after death, remained consumed by her pride and jealousy, eventually reincarnating into this red flower.
I looked closely at the flower she inhabited. It was exceptionally vibrant, its colour far more intense than the others, as if it had been painted with an extra layer of brilliance. In this sea of flowers, this particular bloom held its head the highest—a testament to the spirit's refusal to yield and her desperate desire to win at all costs."
"The Buddha-light shone upon her once more, and I urged her to let go, to see clearly that all these things were false. She nodded, finally understanding. It was only because Practitioner Su’s golden light had opened the space of her flower that she could awaken from her stupor. I helped her see that her hatred was merely an attachment—a phantom, a void that did not truly exist. These were remnants of her past human life, deeply etched into her soul. She had forgotten that she had the power to let go and change her fate.
Under my counseling, she looked back at her past and realised that none of it was real; it was all the result of her own attachments and mental notes. She immediately knelt and wept, kowtowing in gratitude to Practitioner Su. Without his , without the golden light and the Buddha-name, she would have remained trapped in that space forever.
I marvel at the magnificence of Practitioner Su’s Dharma Body Chao Du. Countless beings are saved, finally finding the chance to escape from centuries of suffering. It is truly magnificent.
Namo Amituofo."
