In this teaching, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju reminds us that the cells within our bodies are far too numerous to count. They are not static, unchanging structures; rather, they are in a constant state of flux. While we may have previously believed that the human body contains fifty trillion cells, the reality is far more complex. As our shifts and our physical condition changes, our cells are also in a continuous state of transformation.
There is a profound truth in the saying, "All particles of dust take on form because of the mind." If this is true for the smallest particles of matter, how much more so is it true for our cells, which are living, vibrant entities? Every single cell possesses its own set of the eight consciousnesses and fifty-one mental factors. Because they are alive, they are capable of receiving and responding to the mental notes of the one who is currently in charge—that is, your own mind.
When your cells are in sync with your current mental state, they will adjust or change accordingly. Consider the nature of your thoughts throughout the day:
Every one of these mental states triggers a reaction in your corresponding cells, which in turn activates your karma. Whether it is good karma or negative karma, you are essentially living a life governed by the dictates of these karmic forces. If you wish to transform karma, you must first learn to master your own mind.
To truly change your life, you must be able to transform those negative, uncontrollable, and impure behaviours and thoughts that currently dominate your . You must replace them with positive, virtuous, and pure intentions. The most effective way to achieve this is to transmit the Buddha-name of —which is filled with supreme purity and Goodness—throughout your entire body.
By doing so, you allow every cell in your body, as well as your , attached spirits, and even the demon crowds and other spirit realm beings, to feel the power of the Buddha. Within the Buddha-name, they will perceive:
When these beings experience this energy, they are often moved to surrender and return to the right path. If you practise this continuously, you will eventually notice a positive shift in your physical cells.
At this stage, the change in your heart begins to drive a transformation in both your body and your spirit. This is the true process of transforming karma. Only when this purification has taken root can you truly prepare yourself for the opportunity of becoming an awakened being. By consistently chanting Namo Amituofo, you are not merely reciting words; you are aligning your entire being with the the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. May you persist in this practice until your body, mind, and spirit are fully purified, allowing you to leave suffering behind and find true happiness in the of Ultimate Bliss.
