The Cold River of Samsara

The Chilling Waters of History

The river water is cold, reflecting the vast and chilling expanse of history. We have witnessed countless cycles of rise and fall, enduring endless storms, frost, and snow throughout the ages. The dimensions of space are layered upon one another, and the surface of the river is covered with the spirits of countless sentient beings. These spirits were once human, born of parents, and even figures of great renown in the annals of history. How many of their deeds once stirred the hearts of men? Yet, now that their physical lives have ended, their spirits have fallen into a state of deep sorrow and wandering.

The Plight of Lost Spirits

Many of these spirits are now lost in the spaces above the river, or they have become wandering souls within the depths of the water itself. Among them are those who have had connections with the fourfold assembly, and they are currently suffering, waiting in hope for salvation. It is a profound tragedy to see such potential for awakening trapped in the cold, dark currents of samsara. They are waiting for a sign, a glimmer of hope to guide them out of their confusion.

The Compassion of Amitabha Buddha

We are deeply grateful that Amitabha Buddha and Practitioner Su are aware of the suffering of these spirits. Through the power of the Dharma Body, they perform Chao Du, opening up the dimensions of space to reach those who are lost. They bring forth the radiant Buddha-light and the resonant sound of the Buddha-name, Namo Amituofo. All those who are connected by karmic affinity are able to be saved. The grace of the Buddha is truly beyond words and difficult to fathom; it is a boundless mercy that defies our limited understanding.

A Call to Diligent Practice

I hope that all disciples will engage in diligent practice. Do not forget that there are still countless beings remaining in the cold river, waiting to be saved. They are waiting for the sound of the spring thunder, for the arrival of the Buddha-light, and for the calling of the Buddha-name. When they finally leave the cold river behind and enter the golden light of the Buddha, they will truly be able to leave suffering behind and enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Let us continue our work with unwavering devotion, ensuring that no spirit is left behind in the darkness.
