Reunion in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

This is a record of an interview with Lu Yingling, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his life and his transition to the Western Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on August 13, 2021.

Lu Yingling speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Practitioner Su, thank you so much! Today is the day our whole family is reunited in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, and I am truly, deeply joyful.

Honglian, my dear daughter, your father, mother, and brother have all arrived in the Western Land. Everything here is so radiant and beautiful. My entire body feels strong and healthy again, and your mother is smiling so happily. Before this, we had no idea that such a place even existed. Now that we are here, it feels as though the world is a million miles away. All those things in the world that used to make me so angry—I have cast them all aside."

Letting Go of Past Regrets

"When I was alive, I failed to guide your brother properly, and I have lived with so much regret and sorrow because of it. For the longest time, there was this knot of frustration and pain tight in my chest. But now, finally, that knot has been untied. Seeing the faces of your brothers now, they have become so much purer and more serene. This brings me such immense comfort.

Honglian, time passes day by day, and it goes by so quickly. I truly hope you can cherish every moment you have. It was only after you helped me reach this place that I realised how incredibly compassionate the Buddha is. Everything in the world is ultimately illusory. We spend our whole lives working so hard to raise you children, and then, in the blink of an eye, a lifetime has passed. That is life—a very ordinary, simple life. That is how I lived mine, but Honglian, you do not have to live yours the same way."

A Mission of Compassion

"You have encountered the Buddha, and you have saved our entire family. We must be deeply grateful to the Buddha, and we must be grateful to Practitioner Su, who guided our whole family to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

I hope you will introduce the Buddha to our other relatives and friends and help them as well. Some of them have suffered just as much as I did in my time. Now that you have this opportunity, please, on behalf of your father, counsel them and guide them toward the light."

The Path of Wisdom

"I have been listening to Practitioner Su’s Dharma talks at the temple, and the more I listen, the clearer my mind becomes. I find these Buddhist principles to be so profoundly useful, and I hope you will also listen to the Dharma talks frequently.

Do not worry too much about matters at home. You must seize this precious opportunity to have encountered the Buddha and practise diligently! You are the pride of our entire family, so please, remember to chant Namo Amituofo often. I will spend some time exploring the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss and continue to study the Dharma earnestly. Thank you for sending our whole family to the Western Land.
