Returning to the True Home

This is a record of an interview with Pan Xinghua, the father of Lay Practitioner Pan Lijun, who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition and his current state of peace. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxi, on July 22, 2022.

Pan Xinghua speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Pan Xinghua. I am truly filled with gratitude today to have the opportunity to speak from the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is something I never could have imagined in my past life. To my daughter, my son-in-law, and all my dearest family members—how are you all? Please know that I am doing very well now.

My body has been fully restored to health. I can manage all the small and large tasks of daily life on my own. The agony of illness that once plagued me is gone, completely vanished. Here, I listen to the Dharma talks every single day, and I am deeply immersed in the nourishment of the Buddha’s teachings. My heart has undergone such a profound transformation."

A New Life in the Western Pure Land

"I understand now that everything from my past life has truly come to an end. I know that I can no longer see you in the way I once did, but I hold a firm belief: as long as you also dedicate yourselves to the practice of the Pure Land, we will certainly have the chance to meet again in the future.

I am deeply grateful to my daughter, Lijun, for sending me here to receive Chao Du and to begin my practice. While residing in the Dharma-Nature Land, I have witnessed the sheer number of beings attending every single Dharma assembly. The scenes I have seen are truly heartbreaking—it is overwhelming to witness such vast suffering. I had no idea that I had committed so many wrongdoings in my past, and it is only now that I understand why I had to endure such severe retribution in this life."

The Terrifying Reality of Cause and Effect

"I have finally realised how terrifying the laws of karma and cause and effect truly are! This is why I urge all of you to perform Chao Du for yourselves. Regardless of how many Dharma assemblies you must attend, you must act quickly to deliver your own karmic creditors. Do not wait until it is too late, or you will end up suffering the same painful retribution that I did.

This place is truly magnificent. Every day, I listen to Practitioner Su deliver Dharma talks. Every single principle that Practitioner Su explains helps me to become clearer and more awakened. I know that I must also practice diligently, let go of the past, and follow Namo Amituofo with all my heart. I will strive to do my very best."

A Final Message to My Family

"I wish to leave one final message for my dearest family: although our time together in this life has come to an end, I believe that I will continue to live on in your hearts. However, I do not want you to dwell on the emotions of our past relationship. Instead, I want you to remember that our true goal is to meet again in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I will be waiting for you there.

You must all practice sincerely, and if possible, come here to see this place for yourselves. Please express my deepest gratitude to Practitioner Su and to every single Venerable here. It is only because of their tireless efforts that we are able to return to our true home.
