In the Midst of the Suffering of the Saha World, Only Fragrant Light is a Ray of Hope
During the second session of the , we are reminded of the profound nature of our existence and the connections we share with all beings. Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju offers these essential teachings to guide our practice.
When we interact with others in this world, our paths are drawn together by karmic affinity. This is not mere coincidence, but the unfolding of connections formed across the vast expanse of time. Whether in the past, the present, or the future, those who share a karmic bond will inevitably meet again. It is a cycle that transcends the boundaries of a single lifetime. Conversely, those without such bonds may pass each other by, remaining strangers even when standing face to face. They may never cross paths or meet at all. Whether these connections are positive or negative, they are all manifestations of our shared history.
If we allow our lives to be dictated solely by fate, we simply wait for these karmic seeds to ripen. We watch as the fruits of our past actions—both Goodness and evil—manifest before us. However, if we choose to let our heart take charge, we reclaim our agency. We realise that whether our experiences are of Goodness or evil is determined by our own heart, not by the cold hand of fate. By shifting our mental note, we can transform evil into Goodness. It is all a matter of changing our perspective. When the heart remains still and unmoving, we can respond to the myriad changes of the world with perfect clarity.
When we release good intentions, we are expressing true respect for all beings. This is the foundation of a harmonious life. We must cultivate:
If everyone could live this way, the world would naturally find peace. We must see that everyone possesses the Buddha-nature. When we treat every person as a Buddha, we are offering the highest form of reverence. This is the true essence of our practice.
Once you have recognised your true nature, you are no longer swayed by the actions of others. No matter how they treat you, you can simply let it be. You do not need to hold onto their negativity or allow it to disturb your inner peace. When you release all conflict and displeasure, and instead treat everyone with kindness and good intentions, you have truly become a practitioner. This is the path to leaving suffering behind and finding happiness.
