Rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss — Chen Fu-Hua (Husband of Ge Ying-Er)

Lay Practitioner Chen Fu-Hua:

Namo Amituofo, everyone.

Greetings to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su, and to everyone reading this interview. I hope you can all live your lives well in the human world and practise Buddhism diligently.

I express this sentiment because, as someone who has already walked the path, the things I experienced were truly bitter, and it is difficult to even speak of them. My name is Chen Fu-Hua, and I ended my life in a very painful way; both my body and mind were in great suffering. At the time, I was speechless, as if a heavy stone were pressing on my heart; I wanted to speak but could not, so I had no choice but to take that path.

The final decision to take that path was not entirely my own, but rather the truth I can now see: it was the immeasurable and boundless beings within me who, following my thoughts, gave rise to the evil thought of self-destruction. When I was still hesitating, they pushed me forward, causing me to end my life instantly.

This is the truth of the spirits of people. The spiritual world of every person, within this limited shell, is indeed as complex as the universe, and I am no exception. There are many beings within me, and their voices influence what I say, do, and hear; this is indeed the case.

If not for the guidance of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su today, leading me to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, I think I would have suffered for a very long time, not knowing when I would ever be liberated. After experiencing several weeks of purification in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I was given the opportunity to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and my heart is filled with immense gratitude. Today, along with five others, I was led by Practitioner Su to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss; besides gratitude, my heart is filled with deep reflection.

Regarding the past, I no longer cling to it, nor do I remember it too clearly. Let the past be the past, but that pain was profound and long-lasting. When I first arrived at the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I felt deeply reflective; life is so short, and for most of it, I was controlled, ending so hastily with nothing left behind, having created so much karma. I have truly tasted the bitterness of life.

I am very grateful to my wife for being able to encounter the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. Having gone through these years, at her age, encountering the Buddha must bring her much more peace of mind than I had at the time. Back then, I truly did not think clearly, nor did I have the ability to be self-determined, which is why I took that path.

I want to say I am sorry to you; by taking that path, I caused you suffering. You have truly had a hard time over these years. Now that I see you have encountered the Buddha, I feel very comforted. I believe you must be a person of tremendous blessing to have encountered the Buddha while still in the human world and still possessing a human body. It is truly wonderful!

The Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is truly magnificent! I, too, have blessings and Buddhist affinity, allowing me to know the Buddha and arrive in this Buddha-land. Because my wife signed me up for the Chao Du Dharma assembly, I was able to be reborn. I hold all this gratitude in my heart, and I know my mission now is to cultivate myself well so that I may return to repay the Buddha's kindness and the kindness of all beings.
