In the Midst of the Suffering of the Saha World, Only Fragrant Light is a Ray of Hope
To truly realise one's true nature, one must possess the capacity to overcome the myriad tests and trials that arise during the course of one's practice. This is not a path for the faint of heart. It requires a practitioner to embody great courage, immense strength, unwavering faith, steadfast perseverance, and a profound boldness of spirit. Without these qualities, the journey toward the truth remains elusive, as the obstacles encountered along the way are often deeply rooted in our own habits and past karmic patterns.
We must understand that the process of practice is often a tug-of-war between two opposing forces within ourselves. On one side, there is the sincere vow to realise one's true nature. This is the side that drives us to make the most of every moment, treating one day as if it were two. It is the side that pushes us toward diligent practice, encouraging us to break through our limitations again and again. This aspiration seeks a state where we are no longer bound by the cycle of ageing, illness, or death, ultimately leading us to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is the path where one can, through the realisation of one's true nature at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, travel freely to and from the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss and the human world.
On the other side of this struggle, however, is the reality of our human condition: the desire to be diligent, yet the feeling that our strength is insufficient to match our intentions. We often find ourselves caught in a state of stagnation, where our personalities remain unchanged despite our efforts. This is where we must apply the wisdom of doing without doing, and not doing while yet acting. It is only through this profound wisdom, coupled with actual, concrete action, that we can overcome the problems of inertia and the failure to transform our character.
