How can one endure the retribution of the demon crowds? In the icy mountains of extreme cold, or within the molten lava of extreme heat, the spirit is torn apart. The weight of a great mountain presses down upon the head, causing the eyes to bulge in agony. It is a state of suffering from which it is difficult to escape for trillions of years.
How can one endure the cruel tortures of the hells? The spirit goes there to suffer, dying and being reborn, again and again, in an endless cycle. Yet, this is merely the result of the one has created in the past. One has sown negative causes and now must reap the evil consequences.
Thoughts never cease. Even the most subtle thought can awaken the and demon crowds within , layer upon layer. This body already carries the memories and the presence of beings from accumulated lifetimes. How can it bear such a heavy burden? Thus, aging and illness arise, and one moves steadily toward death.
You must quickly purify yourself and maintain pure thoughts. Do not create more karma through your Body, Speech, and Mind. Chant continuously without interruption. By saving yourself and relying on the Buddha's help, you can transform your karma.
Bodhisattvas fear the cause, while ordinary beings fear the result. You must be cautious. Every thought you have in the present moment carries the laws of karma and cause and effect. Do not sow negative causes that lead to evil consequences.
How can this body endure the demon crowds who use magic to attack the body day and night, every single moment? Fortunately, the light of Namo Amituofo shines everywhere. Fortunately, one has reached and acts with . Even if the body suffers, the heart remains unmoved. One continues straight ahead to transcend the demons.
