Heavenly Sweet Dew: Teachings from Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju

On the 25th of December 2019, during the second session of the Thrice Yearning Ceremony, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju provided profound teachings regarding the miraculous rain that fell upon our centre. This event serves as a testament to the power of sincere practice and the compassionate response of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

The Heavenly Sweet Dew

The rain arrived like a sweet dew, a timely blessing that many had longed for. In this region, water had become scarce, and the land was parched. However, because Namo Amituofo truly abides here, and because the Dragon and Heaven Dharma Protectors safeguard this Buddha-land, a miracle occurred. Practitioner Su leads the spirits every day, and his sincere prayers for rain to save suffering spirits were heard. The arrival of this rain was the fulfillment of a long-held wish, transforming a place that had been suffering from a severe lack of water.

The Intervention of the Heavens

Even the Jade Emperor was moved by the sincerity of these prayers. The Dragon Kings of the Four Seas gathered to deliberate on the matter. The lack of water was a result of our collective karma, where the blessings and Causal Conditions were insufficient to manifest such a vital resource. Yet, how could the rain be brought forth? Practitioner Su’s merit is vast, covering heaven and earth. He summoned the deities of wind, rain, thunder, and lightning to transform the environment, effectively turning the tide of the local climate.

Resolving Karmic Obstacles

This act fundamentally altered the laws of karma and cause and effect of this land. The spirits, longing for rebirth in the Western Pure Land, requested Practitioner Su to help them fulfill this wish. The arrival of the rain is a grace beyond the ordinary laws of nature. It is a great blessing for all creatures, and the spirits wept with gratitude. They finally understood that the Buddha’s teachings are truly inconceivable. The sounds of insects and birds returned, and the cool breeze washed away the summer heat.

Cherishing the Blessings

If you are fortunate enough to receive this water, you must cherish these blessings. If you lack the fortune, this rain serves to increase your blessings. The most magnificent event in this place is the presence of Namo Amituofo, Practitioner Su, and the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Through the grace of the Buddha, we have resolved the disasters and obstacles, and the rain has arrived.

The Path to Awakening

You must never cease to listen to the sutras and hear the Dharma. Only by doing so can you break through delusion and attain enlightenment, eventually seeing your true nature. We invite spirits to heal their body, mind, and spirit. Through the Dharma assembly, the Dharma Body saves infinite beings. Continue to hold the name of Namo Amituofo firmly in your heart. Rebirth in the Western Pure Land is the only path.
