From Darkness to the Light of Ultimate Bliss

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Zhuang, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her journey from the depths of despair to spiritual liberation. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on January 10, 2025.

Lay Practitioner Zhuang speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Zhuang, and I have now arrived in the radiant Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I never knew such a place existed. It is so bright, so full of light—it gives me a feeling of such profound peace and security!"

"I am deeply grateful to the Buddha for filling the void that once consumed my heart. Since arriving in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, my perspective on everything has changed completely. I am filled with gratitude for the Buddha and for the compassionate assistance of Practitioner Su."

The Weight of Inner Darkness

"In my past life, I was always trapped by the things I fixated on—my own feelings, my own emotions, and my personal attachments. That constant, gnawing sense of insecurity often made me feel like I was losing my mind. I tried so many different ways to break free, to help myself, but I could never find a way out. Because of this, my heart grew increasingly grey, until it eventually turned completely dark, and I could no longer find a single glimmer of light. In that state, I could not find any meaning in life at all."

"In truth, I did not choose to walk that final, desperate path because I wanted to; I chose it because I truly felt there was no other way left for me. So many things were, for me, nothing but painful memories. But now, everything has passed, and before my eyes, there is only light. It is only now that I realise the reason I could not find my way out was because of my own karma. In the past, I caused others to suffer and endure pain, and that is why I had to encounter such hardships in this life. Once I saw these laws of karma and cause and effect clearly, my heart was finally able to let go completely and embrace the light."

A Path to Reconciliation

"The laws of karma and cause and effect in this world are so incredibly clear. I offer my sincerest apologies to those I once wronged. Now that I am here in this place of light, I hope with all my heart that the karmic creditors I once harmed will also have the Causal Conditions to move toward the light. The only thing I can do now is to chant Buddha's name for them."

"The choices I made in this life caused so much sorrow for those around me. I was fortunate enough to possess a human body, yet I made the wrong choices. Today, I am so grateful to my noble people, Lay Practitioner Lai. When she heard the news of my passing, she was willing to reach out and help me."

"I am so grateful for the connection we shared; you truly are a wonderful person. Now that I have reached the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I wish you nothing but peace and happiness in all your endeavours. Thank you so much for helping me, for freeing me from my suffering, and for ensuring that my family no longer has to grieve for me."
