Finding Your True Self

The Unfolding of the Infinite Space

When the space is opened, one can engage in dialogue with the Buddha and with all beings. This is not merely a ritual; it is the natural outcome of deep purification through one's practice. It is the process of finding your true self, where your original nature begins to manifest. This manifestation is a fundamental ability that has been obscured by our past habits and attachments.

The Guidance of a True Spiritual Friend

In this delicate process of finding your true self, you must have a true spiritual friend by your side to watch over you. Why is this necessary? Because one must be able to distinguish between the Buddha’s path and the demon path. You must be especially cautious regarding every thought and intention that arises within your mind. If you are not careful, a wrong thought can easily take root, leading you into the demon path without you even realising it. A true spiritual friend provides the clarity needed to navigate these subtle traps.

The Natural Radiance of the True Self

Finding your true self—your original nature—is not just about saving yourself from the cycle of rebirth. It is about the greater mission of helping all beings leave suffering behind and achieve rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. When you reach this state, Compassion, Joy, and Selfless Giving become your natural hearts and actions. You will find yourself in sync with the Buddha-heart, the Buddha-vow, and the Buddha-actions. This is not because the Buddha demands it of you, but because your true self is inherently like this. It is the natural state of the awakened mind.
