Selfishness is Suffering
The search for a sense of security is an instinct that we are all born with. It is a fundamental drive that shapes much of our human experience, influencing how we interact with the world and those around us. We are conditioned to look outward, seeking stability and comfort in the various relationships that define our lives. We look for security in our romantic partnerships, in the bonds between spouses, and in the deep connections we share with our parents, children, and wider family.
Consider how this manifests in our daily lives:
However, we must realise that we all arrive in this world carrying the weight of our past . Because of this, the foundations we build upon are often unstable. When our past karma manifests, or when our appear to settle old accounts, the people we rely on may change or fail us. When the security we built upon these external foundations crumbles, we are left feeling anxious, fearful, and deeply unsettled. We then frantically search for the next person or thing to lean upon, trapped in a cycle of endless seeking, never finding a place to truly rest our hearts.
My dear children, come and find the Buddha! The Buddha is the only source of true, unwavering security. His heart—the heart that seeks to save, liberate, and protect all beings—is eternal and never changes. Yet, this requires you to have faith in the Buddha and to be willing to come to Him. When you turn to the Buddha, you are not merely seeking a temporary refuge; you are opening yourself to the ultimate Truth.
The Buddha will help you adjust your body, mind, and spirit. He will guide you to understand the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. You will no longer need to search outside yourself for a sense of safety. Instead, you will look within to rediscover your true self. By doing so, you will live with peace of mind and attain a sense of security that will never fade, regardless of the circumstances of the world. This is the path to leaving suffering behind and finding true happiness. .
