The Buddha’s teachings are vast and boundless, yet they all return to the heart. This is a profound and mysterious truth. One might ask: Does the heart have the capacity to encompass the Buddha’s teachings? Or does the Buddha’s teaching encompass the heart? In truth, they are mutually causal. Where there is a cause, there is an effect; where there is an effect, there must be a cause. This is the reality of the universe.
People often lose themselves because they do not understand the truth of the laws of and cause and effect. Because they are unaware of the reality of their actions, they create negative causes, reap evil consequences, and endure endless suffering. Those with good fortune are able to find the and the Buddha’s teachings, which provide the path to leave suffering behind. However, many remain lost in the midst of their struggles. They suffer, yet they become accustomed to it, remaining in delusion and continuing to endure pain.
The key to all of this lies within the heart. The heart drives and the spirit. If the spirit seeks to remain focused and not scattered, and if the heart can drive the body, then the body can carry the heart and spirit toward a place where one can leave suffering behind and find resolution. The heart’s judgment guides the direction of the body and spirit. How well the body cooperates depends on the situation with one’s .
Through the blessing of the Buddha’s power, those who undergo purification can open their eyes and see clearly. They can see the past karma they have created and how it manifests in the present. Therefore, purification of the Body-Mind-Spirit is urgently needed, as it helps reveal our original nature. This is a natural phenomenon within the natural order.
Everything begins within the heart; the heart is the source. Protect this heart well, nurture it, and remove the impurities that cloud our original nature so that the light of our true self can shine forth. We must practise the Buddha’s teachings to help all beings awaken, follow the Buddha-actions closely, and advance diligently on the path to the Pure Land. By doing so, we ensure that our journey is one of constant progress toward the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
