The events of the past are like dreams that have long since faded into the distance. You must not let your mind dwell upon them any longer. If you continue to recall the past, these memories will rise like a relentless tide. They will wash over the sands of your mind and drown the vast ocean of your heart. Whether these memories are filled with deep sorrow and pain, or are remnants of joyful times, where are they now? They have vanished into the void of time, and clinging to them only serves to increase your unnecessary sadness. Why not instead dedicate your precious time to remembering the Buddha and chanting ?
The Buddha feels deep compassion for the suffering of all beings. The Buddha-heart is a heart of , and the Buddha-mind is a mind of no-thought. Yet, in every single thought, the Buddha holds only the welfare of all beings. To understand this, we must reflect on the three pillars of the Buddha's presence:
