Understanding Namo Amituofo and the Forty-eight Great Vows
My dear children in the , those who truly understand the laws of and cause and effect are deeply aware of the suffering that follows negative actions. Because they fear the bitter fruit of these actions, they dare not plant the negative causes in the first place. However, those who only have a superficial understanding—or those who know but do not fear the consequences—often harbor wishful thinking. They continue to plant negative causes, and consequently, they must endure the bitter fruits. They remain trapped in the cycle of rebirth, suffering through the agonies of aging, sickness, and death, finding it incredibly difficult to escape.
Beyond what your physical eyes can see, there exist countless dimensions and infinite numbers of beings. Beings residing in dimensions higher than our own are fully aware of our every thought and intention. They know the events of our past, present, and future. Even the ghost realm beings possess the Five Supernormal Powers, allowing them to know things that are hidden from the human world. Therefore, you must never harbor wishful thinking. Do not believe that because no one sees or hears you, you can commit evil deeds or harbor evil thoughts and intentions.
In reality, spiritual beings see everything with perfect clarity. The bitter fruits of such actions are unbearable. You will suffer the consequences in this life, or upon the end of your life, you will fall into the Three Evil Realms. When you walk the path of learning from the Buddha, every step must be firm and deliberate. There is no room for shortcuts or wishful thinking. Whether your actions are good or evil, every single drop is of your own making. You reap what you sow, and you must bear the consequences yourself. No one else can take your place or bear the burden for you.
The clouded state of the mind arises from the pollution of your Body, Speech, and Mind. The bright state of the mind is achieved only through diligent purification. By maintaining a pure heart and mind, you can transcend the cycle of rebirth and return to your true nature. Let us continue to chant with sincerity and diligence, ensuring that every thought is aligned with the Truth. Recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe. Namo Amituofo.
