What does it mean to have a balanced heart? In the context of our spiritual journey, a balanced heart is one that is perfectly level. It is a heart that is entirely free from the influence of selfish desires and the grasping of the ego. When we speak of , we are referring to this state of profound inner equilibrium where no longer dictates our or clouds our judgment.
How often do we find ourselves judging the world through the narrow lens of our own past experiences? When we discuss matters, we often approach them from different angles, which naturally leads to differing perspectives. However, people frequently rely on habitual patterns to interpret and judge the events of their lives. This leads us into the trap of subjectivity.
This subjectivity is, in itself, a manifestation of our . Because we cling to the concept of self, we cannot see things as they truly are. We see only what our ego allows us to see, which keeps us bound to the cycle of rebirth. To break free from this, we must recognise that our subjective views are often just echoes of our past actions.
If we can truly let go of the ego—if we can cast aside the self—we gain the ability to view all matters through the lens of the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. When we adopt this perspective, we no longer stray from the righteous path. By aligning our thoughts and actions with these higher standards, we avoid creating further sins and karmic burdens.
For a practitioner, the balanced heart is not merely a concept; it is a skill that must be cultivated. It requires the mind to remain constantly in a state of equilibrium, free from the ripples of emotional disturbance. You should strive to maintain this objective and stable state at all times. To have a balanced heart is to possess a high level of meditative concentration. When you discuss or evaluate any situation, you must use the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way as your only standard. This is the attitude that every practitioner should embody when navigating the complexities of the world. Let these words serve as a gentle reminder to you on your path. May you always keep your heart balanced and your mind clear.
