Selfishness is Suffering
During the first session of the , we gather in solemn reflection to contemplate the nature of our own confinement. , in His infinite , offers these profound teachings to help us understand the subtle yet restrictive barriers we construct within our own minds. These barriers prevent us from realising our true potential and keep us tethered to the cycle of suffering.
When you trap yourself within a circle, it becomes difficult to turn around or change your direction. This circle is constructed entirely of your own ego-attachment and ego-views. You build these walls through your persistent focus on , creating a boundary that separates you from the vast, interconnected reality of the universe. Because you are so focused on maintaining this circle, you lose the ability to move freely, becoming stagnant in your own limited perspective. This self-imposed prison is the root of all suffering, as it blinds you to the truth of existence and keeps you from the liberation that is your birthright.
Your spirit was originally meant to travel freely through the vastness of the Realm. It is inherently boundless and unconstrained, capable of traversing the infinite reaches of space and time with ease. However, because of your deep-seated confusion, you find it difficult to open this circle and step out into the light. Right now, you find yourself in a state of danger, wandering in a darkness that lacks the illumination of wisdom. You are lost because you have forgotten that your true self is not a small, isolated entity, but a vast, expansive presence that is one with all that is. You are a being of light, yet you have chosen to dwell in the shadows of your own making.
In truth, your true self is inherently a nature of pure light. It possesses the capacity to shine across the infinite Dharma Realm, illuminating all things with clarity and compassion. There is no other way to resolve this danger and escape your confinement than by returning to the Buddha-heart. When you reach a state of transparency and clarity, where can the circle possibly exist? By letting go of the small, grasping mind and embracing the Buddha-heart, you will shatter the circle of ego once and for all. Namo Amituofo invites you to step out of the darkness and into the light of your own original nature, where you may finally find the peace, , and liberation you have long sought.
