Lu Yiwang, the second elder brother of Lu Honglian, sought deliverance through the compassionate efforts of his sister at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. Having been rescued from the depths of the hells, he now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This interview was recorded on August 13, 2021, by Venerable HaiZe.
Lu Yiwang speaks:
". I am Lu Yiwang. Oh, Honglian! My dear sister, your second brother is now in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is entirely thanks to your and the merit you have cultivated that we have been able to reach this place. It is so beautiful—truly, it is so beautiful that words fail me. It is so bright, so incredibly radiant; it has completely opened my heart! Today is truly a momentous day. All of our departed family members have been saved by Practitioner Su through your efforts in arranging the . Before this, we were gathered in the , and now, during this assembly, we have been guided by Practitioner Su to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss together.
The Radiance of Family Reunion
Originally, we were all waiting for Father. If Father had said he wanted to go, we would have gone together. However, it seemed as though Father was waiting for you to send us off. When the temple asked us if we wanted to go to the Western Pure Land, Father did not express his wish to go, so we did not speak up either. This time, because Father decided to go, our entire family was finally able to make the journey together.
This feeling is truly different from the past. In our previous lives, everyone was so headstrong, and we never had this kind of harmonious connection. Perhaps it is because everything here is made of light, and our hearts have been transformed as well. I no longer possess that coarseness or the lack of consideration I once had. I am no longer the person I used to be—I am truly your second brother now!"
Escaping the Hell of Gouged Eyes
"I must express my deepest gratitude to Practitioner Su. We are truly fortunate. Because you found Practitioner Su, you were able to save me from the hell of gouged eyes. That hell is an absolutely terrifying place; even now, just thinking about it makes me tremble. In the past, I always looked at things with a negative perspective, and my temper was terrible. Because of that personality, I harmed many people, which is why I ended up in hell after I died. It is a blessing that Practitioner Su rescued me; otherwise, I would still be suffering in that hell right now. It is truly horrific!
You are a practitioner of the Buddha’s teachings, so you must diligently practise chanting Namo Amituofo. I did not live a good life before, and I was not a good brother to you. You have performed Chao Du for so many members of our family, and you will certainly receive great rewards for this. Especially for Father and Mother—the filial piety we were unable to fulfill, you have accomplished. Enabling them both to reach the Western Pure Land is the greatest act of filial piety possible. I never imagined I would be able to speak these words. Perhaps it is because during my time in the Western Dharma-Nature Land, I listened to Practitioner Su’s Dharma talks, which helped me understand many truths and changed my character significantly. Furthermore, we are able to witness the proceedings of the Dharma assembly from here."
A Debt of Gratitude and Redemption
"I want to thank you again because you helped us by sponsoring these Dharma assemblies. I witnessed something truly frightening: because my memorial tablet was placed at the Dharma assembly, the beings I had harmed in the past actually came to the assembly looking for me. Fortunately, I was in the Western Dharma-Nature Land, so they could not find me. However, they also received the opportunity to be saved through this event, which I consider a great favour you have done for me.
So, I am here to say thank you to you, and I must also thank Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. If you have the opportunity to meet Practitioner Su in person, please thank him on my behalf for saving our entire family. You must continue to practise chanting Namo Amituofo diligently. We will be here, blessing you. Thank you, everyone."
